The use of cryptocurrency to purchase goods and services isn’t a brand-new addition to the market. As the adoption of cryptocurrency continues to grow, world governments are seeking new ways to regulate its use in everyday transactions.
The changing landscape of cryptocurrency and the lack of clear regulations causes the market to remain risky and volatile. Adding to the complexity of this are criminal organizations who are finding that stealing cryptocurrency is quite lucrative. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission reports that nearly 7,000 people in the U.S. reported losses, with the total losses exceeding $80 million. Additionally, a Business Insider article last year indicated that the number of cases of Cryptocurrency breaches and fraud were on track to break records in 2021.
These recent trends make fraud prevention within this market even more important.
