Sustainable Impact
Summit 2023
Conrad Bali, Indonesia | 8th – 9th November, 2023
Successfully Held
This 2-day summit was devoted to discussions on practical, concrete actions organisations can take to accelerate their path to net-zero emissions, many enabled by technology, data, and AI.
An exclusive group of ASEAN-based senior executives and public-sector leaders charged with charting their organisations’ journey to a net-zero future gathered to learn from thought leaders and peers through thought action-oriented panels and workshops, 1:1 meetings, and plenty of networking opportunities.
WHAT MADE THIS SUMMIT UNIQUE?
In addition to the incredible networking and learning opportunities, this summit made a direct impact on important sustainability initiatives.
A percentage of each sponsorship fee was invested in a local Bali sustainability initiative so that we are collectively making a visible, measurable impact.
The summit also provided a platform for early-stage regional sustainability startups to tell their stories and inspire us with their creativity and innovation.

Bridging the Gap in Sustainable Finance in Asia and the Pacific: Principles for Action
With current financial requirements far exceeding available resources, the Asia-Pacific region is not on track to meet the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, nor to achieve its climate ambitions. It is time for all stakeholders – in particular Governments, regulators, and private financial entities – to accelerate change by committing themselves to achieving net-zero emissions and transforming their financing priorities, processes, and programs to meet the growing financing needs of the region.
By focusing on sustainable finance, which refers broadly to both the financing of sustainable activities and financial resources that are sustainably managed, ESCAP, in its latest report “Sustainable Finance: Bridging the Gap in Asia and the Pacific” highlights the challenges and opportunities available to Governments, regulators and private financial entities in the Asia-Pacific region to bridge the gap in sustainable finance. To facilitate the implementation of policies and actions, the report proposes 10 principles to propel the use of financial resources for climate action. These 10 principles are categorized into actions to be taken by Governments, regulators, and private financial entities.

Building an Ethical Supply Chain
Climate change and its effects are already disrupting global supply chains, putting more people in vulnerable situations. Modern slavery exists in the US, Australia, and all over the world; multinationals with extended supply chains are being forced to eliminate the mistreatment of workers upstream of their businesses or risk their reputation and access to capital.
We discussed the steps companies are taking today.

Avoiding the Greenwashing Trap
Communicating your ESG initiatives to your customers and community can backfire and be labeled greenwashing. Organisations must ensure their communications are genuine and transparent so as not to undermine their or their industry’s efforts on ESG. Companies that don’t build accessibility and tangibility into their ESG communications will likely be perceived as greenwashing.
In this workshop, we explored how to avoid the greenwashing trap.
